1981–1982 Speedometer Compatibility: The original 1981–82 GM speedometer features a larger protrusion on the back that will not fit this replacement housing. When installing this backing plate in a 1981–82 truck, you must use either a compatible 1981–87 aftermarket replacement speedometer or an original 1983–87 speedometer.
This is an important detail to verify before ordering, especially if you plan to reuse your original speedometer.
