Recommended Application

For the best paint adhesion and finish, always prepare the surface before applying interior color.

1. Wash the part thoroughly using SEM Soap and the included scrubbing pad. The soap may be diluted with water if desired.
2. For original interior parts, we recommend cleaning the surface twice to remove years of oils, dressings, and contaminants. New reproduction parts generally require only one cleaning.
3. Rinse completely and allow the part to dry.
4. Using a clean microfiber cloth or lint-free rag, spray SEM Plastic & Leather Prep onto a small section (approximately 6 x 6 inches), then immediately wipe the surface clean.
5. Repeat this step twice on original parts and once on new parts.
6. Allow the surface to dry completely before applying SEM Color Coat or other interior coatings.

Taking the time to properly prepare the surface helps maximize paint adhesion, improves color consistency, and greatly reduces the chance of peeling, fisheyes, or premature finish failure.
