The story of Amos
Amos was a 1987 Chevy 4x4 with black paint so deep it looked like midnight after a thunderstorm. When he was clean, you could see your reflection clear enough to shave in it. Folks said he looked too pretty to leave the pavement — but Amos wasn’t built to sit still and sparkle.
His owner, Jake, tried to keep him that way though. Every Saturday morning, Jake would wash, wax, and buff till the neighbors thought Amos was headed to prom. But every time Jake turned that key, Amos started rumblin’ like he had mischief in mind.
One hot afternoon, Jake took him down an old dirt road just to “stretch his legs.” The second Amos saw that first muddy rut, he kicked his tires like a bull at the gate. Jake barely touched the gas before Amos launched right through it — mud flying high, that shiny black paint disappearing under a thick coat of brown glory.
By the time they got home, Amos looked like he’d wrestled a hog and won. Jake just laughed and said, “Well, you sure ain’t shy about gettin’ dirty.” Amos gave a proud rumble from the exhaust, sittin’ there covered in mud but grinning from bumper to bumper.
